An interesting read on neurodiversity

I enjoyed this piece on neurodiversity; let me know what you think

  1. This is a good take on neurodiversity and I think that more neurodivergent people will quickly appear once they realize that they can take off their masks and feel fine with themselves, and I've thought another way to look at people who are neurodiversive is that some are completely unaware of the unnecessary mythical (and sometimes harmful) complex and convoluted societal scripts while others have simply disregarded them.

  2. As a NT, I can't WAIT for this world, please usher it in ASAP.

I think the current system actually works for a minority of neurotypical people as well. Everyone is burned out and miserable. We all need to slow down and be quieter.

  3. My take is that neurodiversity has been more prevalent for a longer time than people realize. Think about this list of people:

Socrates, Diogenes, St Augustine, Descartes, Pascal, Newton, Leibniz, Kant, Mozart, Marx, Einstein

and even ignoring all the anecdotes about how weird they acted in person, just examining what they professed, is it even remotely plausible that they were neurotypical?

That short list contains some of those who through luck of birth or being discovered by a benefactor rose to prominence. Most were hidden voluntarily or involuntarily. Many died young due to lack of support.

In reference to the article, I don't think neurodivergence is an evolutionary leap; I think it's variation that has been around probably since before Homo sapiens developed.
